WATERFORD, Ohio (WOUB) – The Belpre Golden Eagles (1-8) soared into enemy territory to face the Waterford Wildcats (7-2) where they lost 55-0.

Heading into this game, the Golden Eagles looked to end the season with their first win over Waterford in nine years, while the Wildcats looked to gain momentum heading into the playoffs and claim sole possession of the TVC-Hocking title.

The Wildcats got things going on their first drive with a heavy rushing attack lead by running back Colten Jones. He would cap it off with a one yard rushing touchdown to make it 7-0 after the extra point.

On Belpre’s first drive, Colten Jones would make his presence known on defense as he would get an interception. Jones would waste no time with a 5 yard touchdown on the very next play. In a flash, it was 14-0 to Waterford early in the first.

After the Wildcats forced a turnover on downs, Colten Jones would make it three as he would get a 9 yard rushing touchdown to make it 21-0 after the extra point. This score would hold until the end of the 1st quarter.

Waterford would not let up in the 2nd as they would score another touchdown within two minutes after a huge 32 yard pass from quarterback Hayden Jones to wide reciever Zavier Heiss. This was followed by yet another rushing touchdown from Colten Jones to increase the lead to 28.

Not long after, the Waterford rushing attack would collect another touchdown, but this time it was running back Trevin Zimmer getting the score, making it 35-0 Waterford.

Zimmer would continue to make his mark with a 37 yard rushing touchdown on the next drive, making it 42-0 Waterford minutes later. This would be the score going into halftime.

Early in the third quarter, Colten Jones would get back on the board with a historic touchdown. His fourth touchdown of the night would make him surpass 1,000 rushing yards on the season, and he would join his brother, quarterback Hayden Jones in the process as they would become the first pair of brothers in Waterford history to both have 1,000+ rushing and passing yards respectively in a season.

After one more rushing touchdown from running back Kameron Johnson, Waterford would take a 55-0 lead and keep it for an important win.

The story of this game was complete control from the Wildcats by way of an unstoppable rushing attack led by Colten Jones, backed up with dominant defense to complete the shutout.

The Belpre Golden Eagles finish the regular season 1-9 with the loss.

And the Waterford Wildcats finish the regular season 8-2 heading into the playoffs.
