This is the 99th year of Black History Month, originally known as “Negro History Week,” launched February 7, 1926. Originally conceptualized by educator, scholar Carter G. Saturday Excursions begins its bimonthly February celebration of Black History Month with “Blues for Carter G,” an eclectic mix of extended/thematically linked historical music. Blending improvised Jazz with spoken word, diasporic, and African-American regional examples of Great Black Music-Ancient-to-the-Future.
