GLOUSTER, Ohio (WOUB) — Trimble Tomcats (13-10, 4-6 TVC-Hocking) hosted the Sciotoville East Tartans (3-15, 0-7 SOC) in the first round of the tournament and won, 49-13.

The first quarter would set the tone of the whole game. Trimble would be stellar on both sides of the ball. Mckenzie Eing ended the first quarter with three steals and Rilynn Fouts had seven points as they finished the first quarter up 16-3.

The second quarter would be identical to the first. Trimble would not take their foot of the gas defensively as the Tartans only made two buckets in the first half. Eing continued to dominate as she ended the first half with 11 points and six steals, and the Tomcats led 32-6.

In the third quarter, Trimble continued to light up the scoreboard as Eing added another seven points to her night. Sciotoville East got some help from their two leading scorers Laney Masko and Madi Fitsgerald, but they would continue to trail 46-11.

The fourth quarter started with a running clock. Trimble rested their starters for the next round and ran their bench in a slow last quarter as the final ended 49-13.

Trimble relied on Mckenzie Eing all night as she ended the game with 20 points, 6 steals and shot 100% from the field. Daisy Harvey was also a contributor in the win with 8 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.

After the game, Trimble Head Coach Joe Richards was impressed with Eing’s performance as they look further into the tournament. ”She’s got to be our post presence that opens everything up outside,” said Richards. “It’s good for Kenzie to have good games. When she has good games we normally play well.”

Looking ahead, Trimble will look to continue their tournament run against the Notre Dame Titans (13-8) on Monday. Meanwhile, Sciotoville ends their season with a final record of 3-15.
