ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Anthony “Tre” Tyus III is returning home.

Aaron Wilson of KPRC reported on Saturday evening that Tyus and his agency, Net Sports Management, have reached a UDFA deal with the Detroit Lions. Tyus grew up in Portage, Michigan, just over two hours away from Detroit.

Tyus spoke with the Lions after Ohio’s annual Pro Day at Walter Fieldhouse. The Lions didn’t draft a running back during the 2025 NFL Draft and are currently rostering four running backs, giving Tyus the chance to compete for a roster spot. Tyus will join a running back room that features Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, Craig Reynolds, and Sione Vaki.

This story will be updated as more details come out.
