Licking Valley takes on Sheridan for fifth year in a row

THORNVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) — The Licking Valley Panthers paid a visit to the Sheridan Generals for an eighth edition of the season-opening battle between the teams. The Panthers took this one 28-6, moving the newly-adopted series to 4-4.
A long, methodical drive set Licking Valley up for its first score of the night, coming off a 10-yard score from QB Brody Rodgers. It was 7-0 right away, in favor of the Panthers.
Sheridan moved the ball near midfield the next drive, but could not capitalize past that point.
The Generals stopped Licking Valley the next possession, however, and created an opportunity to even things up before the end of the half.
Sheridan made it near midfield yet again, but this time, RB Logan Jones took the ball 40 yards to make it 7-6. The extra point was no good.
After a couple penalty-ridden possessions, the Panthers found themselves in Generals’ territory and capitalized once again. This time, it was from 44 yards out, and Licking Valley reclaimed a full possession lead before the end of the half.
That seemed to be the turning point of the game, as the remainder went the Panthers’ way.
After two, the score sat 14-6, and Licking Valley carried the momentum through the rest of the game, winning 28-6. The Panther defense was the clear winner of this matchup, and it allowed for another large margin of victory for them against Sheridan.
