ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) – This week, Ohio University’s professional theater company, Tantrum Theater, opened its production of Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical.
Premiering in 1967, Hair is a groundbreaking rock musical that captures the countercultural spirit of the Vietnam War era through its themes of youth, protest, and personal freedom, and is widely regarded as a defining work of modern musical theater.
The production runs tonight and tomorrow, and March 4–7 at the Elizabeth Evans Baker Theater in Kantner Hall (19 S. College St.), with 8 p.m. evening performances and 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday and March 7; tickets range from $10 to $27.
WOUB’s Andy McLean photographed the production during its February 26 press night.
