ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) – OU alumnus Jon Chinn returned to campus in April for the Ohio University Music Industry Summit. Since his days as a member of Athens band Pretty Mighty Mighty, Jon has built an impressive career — co-founding Workbook Studio in Columbus, working as a live sound engineer and tour manager, and eventually landing in New York City as Director of Media Operations at Sony Music Entertainment. He also runs Landline Recording, a mixing and mastering studio in Hoboken, NJ, and currently performs in the band Manager.

Jon joined WOUB’s Emily Votaw and I for a guest DJ slot on Audiosyncracies, set to air at 8 p.m. on May 17 — but a power outage that night prevented the episode from broadcasting as planned.

We’re posting it here to our Culture tab so those of you who were tuned in can finally hear it.

The special is an hour of conversation and music celebrating Jon’s time in Athens, shining a light on the vibrant scene of the ’90s — including bands like Orchestraville, Appalachian Death Ride, and Geraldine — plus a track from his new band, Manager.

Thanks for your patience, and enjoy the show.
