Ohio Superintendent Says Ohio’s Graduation Rate Is Too Low
< < Back to ohio-superintendent-says-ohios-graduation-rate-too-lowNot enough of Ohio's high school seniors are graduating says the state's new school superintendent.
Dr. Richard Ross says Ohio ranks 23rd in the nation in the percentage of high school seniors that receive a diploma according to the US Department of Education.
However, of the 80 percent of students that graduate, Ross says they are not properly prepared for college.
Minority students fall even lower than the statewide percentage.
Ross says only 59 percent of African-American students graduate and the graduation rate for students with limited English falls at 53 percent
Ross says none of these numbers are good enough for Ohio students.
