Man Sentenced In Shaken Baby Case
< < Back to man-sentenced-shaken-baby-caseA 44-year-old man has been sentenced to nearly two decades in prison in the shaking death of his girlfriend's 10-month-old baby in central Ohio.
Prosecutors say Wayne Martin Walker caused the death of the infant in November at her home in Laurelville.
As part of a plea bargain, he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and child endangering Wednesday in Circleville and was sentenced to 19 years in prison.
Deputies say the child's 24-year-old mother had called 911 to report that her infant son was unresponsive. The child suffered injuries consistent with shaken-baby syndrome and died later at a Columbus hospital.
Authorities said Walker fled after the child was injured. He was arrested after he stepped off a Greyhound bus in Sacramento, Calif., on Dec. 2.
