Commissioners Approve Drilling In Washington County

The Washington County commissioners unanimously granted drilling rights to an out-of-state firm last night.

A former county commissioner member voiced concern about the proximity of the land near the county nursing home.

A Washington County prosecuting attorney says the drilling will not be on the land near the nursing home.

According to the commissioners and their attorney, this is not the first time a company has had permission to drill on the county home site.

Another company had similar rights 30 years ago, before it went out of business.
