Football: Offensive Line Recruit Langenkamp Commits To Ohio
< < Back to football-offensive-line-recruit-langenkamp-commits-ohioOhio University is hitting the recruiting trail hard and early this spring and has already received its fourth oral commitment for the 2014 class from Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, offensive lineman Stephen Langenkamp. The commitment was reported Wednesday afternoon by Cincinnati Enquirer reporter Mike Dyer.
Langenkamp, an offensive guard by trade, stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 280 pounds. Ohio offered him a scholarship in late April, according to Dyer; it is the only offer he’s received. The junior is unranked by the major recruiting services but helped pave the way for the Crusaders’ 12-3 record and Division I state championship in 2012. The Crusaders beat Toledo Whitmer High School, 20-12, in the state championship game in Canton, Oh., while rushing for 154 yards. Moeller also finished the 2012 season ranked 11th in the nation, according to USA Today’s high school rankings.
Langenkamp is the first offensive line commit for the 2014 class. Last season, Ohio signed three offensive linemen in preparation for losing three starters. Ohio stands to lose four senior offensive linemen after the 2013 season, including three probable starters.
Lankenkamp joins defensive linemen Kyle Kuhar and Kent Berger and quarterback Joey Duckworth as the first unofficial commits for the 2014 class.
As is the case with all early commits, Langenkamp’s commitment is unofficial until he signs a National Letter of Intent. The first day players can sign an NLI and make their commitment’s binding is on National Signing Day, Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2014.
