Junior College Pitcher, Nick Nauracy Is Transferring To Ohio
< < Back toThe Ohio Bobcats pitching staff will be adding another arm for the 2014 season. Nick Nauracy, a right-hander and junior college transfer, will head to Athens after pitching the past two seasons for the Vincennes University Trailblazers, according to The Chicago Sun Times.
This season with the Trailblazers, Nauracy compiled a 2-5 record and an ERA of 4.77 in 12 starts. He pitched 60.1 innings and struck out 64 batters. In 2012 as a freshman, he carried a record of 5-3 and an ERA of 3.64 in 59.1 innings pitched.
The 6-foot-1 righty is from Crown Point, Ind., where he played for Crown Point High School. Morehead State and Western Michigan expressed interest in Nauracy out of high school, but he opted to stay in his home state and spend two years at Vincennes rather than make the jump to Division I baseball right away according to The Chicago Sun Times.
Nauracy will now have a chance to pitch at the Division I level with the Bobcats, and he will not be the only former Vincennes player in head coach Rob Smith’s program. Smith himself started his playing career with the Trailblazers in 1991 before transferring to Indiana Southeast.
Next up on the schedule for coach Smith and his squad are the Miami University RedHawks. Ohio will start the first of a three game series on Thursday. First pitch it set for 6 p.m. in Oxford, Ohio.
