Ohio Baseball Receives Its First Commitment For The 2014 Class
< < Back to ohio-baseball-receives-its-first-commitment-2014-classThe Ohio Bobcats have added an arm to their pitching staff for the future. According to the Nebraska Recruiting Board, Logan Jacik of Omaha, Neb., announced in January that will he will join Ohio’s 2014 recruiting class.
Jacik stands six feet tall and weighs around 150 pounds. The right-hander pitched at Millard West High School in Nebraska, and is known for his ability to command all of his pitches for strikes as well as his good mechanics that allow him to hit the same spots.
He throws a four-seam and two-seam fastball, change up, curveball and a slider. His fastball typically hits around the mid 80’s, but it has been known to hit 88 mph.
In 2012, Jacik pitched a no-hitter at Millard West and also batted .418. When he is not on the mound he is capable of playing shortstop. He has the potential to become even better, as he is still growing into his frame.
Jacik will join a Bobcat team that already has ties to Omaha. Ohio’s head coach Rob Smith spent six years coaching at Creighton University before becoming a member of the Bobcat family this past summer.
Presently, Jacik’s decision to play at Ohio University is a nonbinding verbal commitment. The commitment will not become official until National Signing Day on February 6, 2014. Until then, Jacik can choose to take his talents elsewhere.
Ohio has one more game in its regular season. The Bobcats will wrap up a series with the Miami RedHawks on Saturday at 1 p.m.
