Ohio Elections Commission Requests $50K to Make Payroll
< < Back to ?p=123647COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – The state elections commission needs authority to spend an additional $50,000 this year as the agency struggles to make payroll.
Philip Richter, executive director of the Ohio Elections Commission, planned to make the request to a state budgetary panel on Monday.
Richter says the commission operated with board vacancies in the past, but all its positions are filled this year meaning increased expenses for salary and benefits.
The request follows concerns raised by the state budget director about the agency’s policies for collecting fees and fines owed to it.
The Office of Budget and Management transferred money to the commission in December, March and April so the agency could meet its obligations.
Last year, the state auditor recommended the elections commission improve its monitoring of revenue and expenses.
