< < Back to woman-alleges-attempted-roadside-robbery-sexual-assault-amesvilleA 21-year-old woman alleges a male attempted to rob and sexually assault her Monday morning in Amesville.
The woman was having car trouble along SR. Rt. 550 near McDougal Road and was parked on the roadside around 7:30 a.m.
She told the Athens County Sheriff's Office that a man with a "beer gut," brown to gray hair and nicotine-stained fingers approached her and demanded she give him money. The woman said the man was wearing a blue t-shirt, brown cargo pants and was wearing a backpack.
After searching her wallet, the man, whom she estimated was in his early 40s and between 5-foot-9 and 6-foot-4, dragged the woman out of her car by her hair and began to tear at her clothing.
She said she grabbed a pair of hedge clippers and attempted to stab her assailant with the shears. She was unsure if she made contact with the man.
Deputies and detectives were notified approximately three hours after the incident. The Sheriff's Office collected evidence and the incident is currently under investigation.
