Ohio Senate Budget Proposes Concealed Handgun Change
< < Back to ?p=126158COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – State senators have added a provision to Ohio’s budget to allow active military members to more easily carry a concealed handgun.
The revision was among dozens disclosed in legislative documents Tuesday as the Senate Finance Committee began hearings on their $71.3 billion, two-year spending blueprint.
The proposal would allow service members who are 18 or older to carry a concealed handgun as long as they have military identification and a certificate indicating successful small-arms qualifications.
Other changes would provide free public transportation to veterans and allow emergency responders with post-traumatic stress disorder to be eligible for workers’ compensation benefits.
One revision eliminates a requirement that consumers complete a form agreeing to take fireworks outside Ohio within 48 hours after buying them. People would still be banned from setting them off.
