Fatal Accident Could Be Related To Attempted Copper Theft
< < Back to ?p=12661Police say they believe a man found dead at an industrial site in far eastern Ohio was trying to steal copper electrical lines from the former steel plant.
The body was found Monday by an employee of the company that now owns the former RG Steel plant in Steubenville.
Acting police Chief Joel Walker tells the Steubenville Herald-Star authorities believe the man had been on an electrical tower over the weekend and died either from an electrical shock or a fall.
The 51-year-old local resident previously had been charged with trying to steal copper from the same property.
Walker says police have seen signs that others might be trying to do that, and he hopes the tragedy serves as a warning.
