ODOT Won’t Fund ‘Diverging Diamond’ for East State Street
< < Back to odot-wont-fund-diverging-diamond-for-east-state-streetEast State Street will not be getting a diverging diamond interchange next year as previously planned because the Ohio Department of Transportation has decided not to fund the project.
The proposed traffic pattern would have had vehicles travel into the opposite lane of traffic between the eastbound and westbound Route 33 ramps on East State. The one other location in the state that has a diverging diamond interchange is at Interstate 270 and Roberts Road in Columbus.
The proposed Athens intersection was labeled a “modified diverging diamond intersection” as it would use existing exit ramps.
