Ohio Prison System Announces Inmate Job Training Program

The project to be unveiled Thursday in Columbus matches ex-offenders with open positions at participating manufacturing companies throughout central Ohio.
The program, dubbed the Training, Assessment, and Placement Project, screens and trains inmates before they’re released and continues to do so afterward to ease the sometimes rocky transition to life after prison.
The program is coordinated by consultant Vickie Miller, a former teacher at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, and OH!Manufacturing, an affiliate of the Ohio Manufacturing Extension Partnership program.
Prisons director Gary Mohr has made prisoner transition as a way of reducing recidivism a top priority.
