Williamstown Takes On Ravenswood
< < Back to williamstown-takes-ravenswoodThe undefeated Williamstown Yellow Jackets (3-0) are looking to continue their winning ways in week 5 with a matchup against Class AA Ravenswood.
The Red Devils (2-1) come into Friday’s game hoping to rebound from a 57-6 shellacking against defending state champion Wayne a week ago.
The Yellow Jackets had a bye last week after their shutout of Marietta in week 3.
Senior quarterback Jake Tracewell quite literally leads the Williamstown offense, as he has accounted for 75 percent of the team’s production on that side of the ball this year.
Tracewell has thrown for 370 yards, rushed for 200 yards, and has six of the team’s seven total touchdowns through its first three games.
Another key player for the Yellow Jackets is fullback David Hastings. Hastings leads the team in receiving by far, with 219 yards and two touchdowns. He has also shown an ability to make big plays in the passing game, averaging 27 yards per catch.
Williamstown’s defense hasn’t been bad either, holding opponents to 14 points or less in each of its first three games.
Before the Wayne game, Ravenswood’s offense had been on fire, putting up 61 and 41 points on Webster County and Roane County.
These two teams met early on last year; Williamstown beat the Red Devils, 23-7, in Ravenswood a season ago, also in week 5.
Friday’s game will come down to whether the Yellow Jackets can do what they did last year and stop Ravenswood’s offense. So far, Williamstown is allowing an average of 9.3 points per contest.
The Jackets’ battle for 4-0 begins Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Williamstown High School Football Stadium.
