Scotties Squeak by Panthers
< < Back to scotties-squeak-panthersIt was another exciting night of high school football in the MVL, but the New Lexington Panthers could not continue their winning streak, falling to a tough Tri-Valley Scotties squad, 21-14.
The Scotties opened up the scoring early with an Austin Jones TD to take a 7-0 lead. New Lexington had a slow start, but after a Tri-Valley fumble was recovered by the Panthers they scrambled their way to a touchdown at the end of the half to tie the game up seven all. Late in the third, the Scotties gained control again with a Nathan Strock pass to Jones. Strock was 10 for 14 on the night with 182 yards and 1 TD. Jones had 25 carries for 209 yards and 2 TDS.
The Scotties finished with 407 total yards compared to the Panthers 297 yards. For the Panthers, the POY candidate KJ Hook was a standout player. QB Hook went 16 for 33 for 151 passing yards. On the ground, Hook had 18 carries for 87 yards and 2 TDS. WR Gerald Spohn also had 7 receptions for 56 yards to help out the Panthers.
Tonight’s victory for the Scotties shows that they are definitely at the top of the MVL. Hoping to bounce back from their loss, the Panthers go on the road next week to play the Crooksville Ceramics. Tri-Valley stays at home for a tough match against John Glenn.
