Week 5 Power Rankings: MVL
< < Back to week-5-power-rankings-mvlWeek five presented much of the same in the Muskingum Valley League with its top three teams in Maysville, Tri Valley, and Sheridan all getting wins by at least 35 points. Meanwhile, Philo and Crooksville also picked up conference wins.
Chase Roberts put on one of the conference’s most notable performances, racking up 117 yards and three touchdowns on just five carries.
Crooksville and West Muskingum also found some offensive success, each recording season-high point totals.
1.) Maysville (5-0, 4-0) | Last Rank: 1 | Next opponent: @ Sheridan
10 different Maysville players took hand-offs during Friday’s game against River View, accounting for six rushing touchdowns and contributing to Maysville’s season-high 60-point outburst.
The Panthers also set another season-high during the game: points allowed. The good news: it was only 16 points.
2.) Tri-Valley (4-1, 3-0) | Last Rank: 2 | Next Opponent: Vs. West Muskingum
Another week, another dominating conference performance with Tri-Valley’s shutout win against New Lexington. Tri-Valley has yet to let an MVL opponent score.
3.) Sheridan (3-2, 3-0) | Last Rank: 3 | Next Opponent: Vs. Maysville
Sheridan has taken care of business against the league’s bottom three teams, beating Morgan, John Glenn, and West Muskingum by a combined score of 141-20.
4.) Philo (3-2, 3-1) | Last Rank: 5 | Next Opponent: @ Crooksville
Philo struggled to score against a John Glenn team which has allowed over 30 points in three of its five games this season. However, Philo did come away with the win and managed to gain 134 yards on the ground.
5.) Crooksville (2-3, 1-3) | Last Rank: 6 | Next Opponent: Vs. Philo
Crooksville recorded a season-high 56 during its first conference on Fridat against West Muskingum, but it also allowed a season-high 34 points to a West Muskingum team which had recorded a double-digit point total just once prior to the match-up.
6.) New Lexington (2-3, 2-2) | Last Rank: 4 | Next Opponent: @ Coshocton
In spite of its offensive struggles, the Panthers managed to hold Tri-Valley to 35 points, a season-low against conference opponents.
7.) West Muskingum | Last Rank: 7 | Next Opponent: @ Tri Valley
The Tornadoes scored more against Crooksville (34) than they had in their previous four games combined (29).
8.) John Glenn | Last Rank: 9 | Next Opponent: Vs. Morgan
John Glenn’s offense broke through the double-digit threshold for the first time, putting 10 points on Philo.
9.) Morgan | Last Rank: 8 | Next Opponent: @ John Glenn
Morgan has lost 15 straight, but one of its best chances to win is coming up.
