Sheridan, Tri-Valley Put Perfect Conference Records on the Line

The two remaining unbeaten Muskingum Valley League teams battle on Friday in the biggest match up of the year for both teams, to this point.
The Tri-Valley Scotties (6-1, 5-0) and the Sheridan Generals (5-2, 5-0) are set to play in a game that could decide the MVL title.
Sheridan enters the game coming off two huge conference wins, including an upset win over the Maysville Panthers. Sheridan head coach Paul Culver said he was “interested to see how his players would react after beating Maysville, a game most people thought they wouldn’t win.”
They reacted with a comeback victory over Philo, but now face their biggest test of the season with a short-handed squad.
“We have so many injuries and they seem to keep mounting,” Culver said. “We lost two guys to concussions last week and an offensive lineman with a knee injury. It’s next man up.”
The Generals will need all the manpower they can get against a dynamic Tri-Valley team. Tri-Valley has outscored opponents 272-19 this season, largely thanks to offensive weapons like dual-threat quarterback Tyler McGee and running backs Cody Collins and Bryce Farmer.
Even with all of those playmakers, it’s not even Sheridan’s primary concern.
“Our problem is we’re very small, we get pushed around a lot at the line of scrimmage,” Culver said. “We just need our guys to show up and make plays to keep us in the game.”
Quarterback Dylan Dupler and running backs Justyn Bobo and Deryk Grosse will be among the many tasked with making plays and keeping up with Tri-Valley’s high-powered offense.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Sheridan High School.
