Fighting Breast Cancer With Personal Medical Attention
< < Back to fighting-breast-cancer-personal-medical-attentionThe Adena Cancer Center in Chillicothe has what is called a multi-disciplinary cancer center.
The center helps give local women fighting breast cancer personal attention as they battle the disease.
Darla Cremeans is a breast care navigator and was on WOUB's Newswatch last night.
She says the center has a clinic twice a week for women recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
"What's so nice, at noon, the physician along with the pathologist and radiologist, they review her case and they tailor a treatment plan just for her, and they give their recommendation to that patient following the conference that afternoon," says Cremeans.
Cremeans says access to health care in the Appalachian region is a huge problem.
She says her work as a breast care navigator helps decrease the amount of anxiety breast cancer patients feel.
