Coach Jim Kearns returns to an Alexander team that finished second in the TVC-Ohio a season ago. Kearns only lost one senior in point guard Jordan Moseley, and has plenty of experience returning to the court. Kearns is sure to continue preaching tough defense and a patient offense.

The Spartans return a couple of key seniors from last season’s team.

Mason Chapman—Senior Guard/Forward—Chapman is a leader on the gridiron for the Spartans, and nothing should change in his transition to the hardwood. Chapman’s great instincts make an impact all over the court. He has a nice shooting stroke from deep, and the strength to power his way inside for tough rebounds and putbacks. His biggest contribution comes from the defensive end. He locks down multiple positions and frustrates opposing ball-handlers.

Seth Richardson—Senior Guard/Forward—Richardson probably has the most pure talent of any Spartan, but sometimes lacks the confidence on offense. He has a silky smooth stroke and can pour in points from anywhere. He also has great court vision so, even if he isn’t scoring, he can hit the open man in the spots that put them in position to score. Richardson has the athleticism and basketball IQ to guard almost any position on the defensive end.

Alexander’s schedule includes tough road games and out-of-state opponents. Key games include:

November 28 vs. Marietta

December 2 @ Huntington WV

January 8 @ Athens

January 9 @ Chesapeake

January 16 vs. Russell KY

Alexander should once again be a contender for the top spot in the conference behind the senior leadership of players like Chapman, Richardson and Lukas Thompson.

The Spartans play lock-down defense and move the ball around on offense. They play an unselfish brand of basketball, allowing the Spartans to move the ball and rack up assists. They tend to slow down and keep the score low, especially against teams that really like to push in transition.

Expect Alexander to be near the top of the TVC-Ohio, and maybe even make a push for the conference championship.Coach Jim Kearns returns to an Alexander team that finished second in the TVC-Ohio a season ago.
