Just seven days after the university closes for the fall semester, the Ohio Bobcats will be playing in the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl in Montgomery, AL.

Appalachian State will be on the opposite sideline when the two teams take the field Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN.

Ohio (8-4) will face the difficult task of taking on the Mountaineers (10-2) who faced tough teams in Sun Belt Conference play. Appalachian State’s two losses came in rough contests with a 41-10 loss to No. 1 Clemson on the road and a 40-27 defeat at the hands of Sun Belt conference champion Arkansas State (9-3).

The Bobcats enter the game on their second three game win streak of the season with the most recent victory over Northern Illinois in a 26-21 upset of the Huskies. Ohio’s last three game win streak was followed up by a 27-24 heartbreak loss to Minnesota in a game that ended with a controversial delay-of-game penalty.

Appalachian State will also enter having won three in a row, and had a six game win streak earlier in the season. The Mountaineers most recent game was a 34-27 win over South Alabama, who is a team familiar with the Camellia Bowl.

The matchup will be the second in the game’s history. Last year, the MAC won the inaugural game when Bowling Green slipped past South Alabama 33-28.
