COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – A governmental agency that oversees Ohio’s highways has agreed to pay about $170,000 to a pair of advertising firms.

TRIAD Communications of Cuyahoga Falls and SFC Graphics of Toledo accused the state Department of Transportation of breaching its contract when it allowed two state governmental agencies to solicit advertising at 10 roadside rest areas.

The advertising firms filed separate complaints claiming the 2012 deal gave them exclusive rights to market and sell advertising at those rest areas.

The state Court of Claims says that it approved a settlement on Nov. 13 that gives TRIAD $125,000 and SFC Graphics about $45,000.

As part of the settlement, the Transportation department does not admit to any wrongdoing. All parties agree not to make any further claims.
