Ohio Womens Basketball Set to Face Duquesne
< < Back to ohio-womens-basketball-set-to-face-duquesneThe Bobcat’s win streak is on the line, though only seven games deep into the season, Ohio’s luck on the road hasn’t been there.
The Bobcats’ only two losses on the road, have been on the courts of their opponents.
Traveling to Duquesne this weekend, Ohio will have to shake off its tough luck challenging the Duke’s seven-game win streak. Duquesne (8-1) will be quite a hurdle for Ohio (5-2) as both teams will be charging with momentum meaning that Saturday’s game will be impactful, no matter the outcome.
The Dukes will pose tough competition for Ohio as the St. Francis Red Flash did last Sunday on December 6th. The Bobcats were able to contain Jessica Kovatch of St. Francis’, to less than half of her points per game average. Being that as it may, If Ohio’s defense can hold April Robinson of Duquesne to the same extent, they will be giving themselves a better shot at a win.
Robinson averages 15 points a game for Duquesne, but on the other hand, Kiyanna Black averages 16 points per game for the Bobcats. Offensively, the two guards are comparable, but Black has double the rebounds than the Duke’s offensive anchor.
Ohio’s success is supported deep throughout its roster. Last Sunday against St. Francis, Quiera Lampkins posted a career-high of 21 points. Lampkins’ had an outstanding offensive game after posting 17 points in the first half. Ohio kept things controlled and slashed its number of turnovers throughout the half after an embarrassing 29 turnovers against IPFW on December 2nd in Athens.
Ohio proved that with focus comes improvement. Turning that focus to its record on the road, Ohio could do some damage in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania against the Duquesne Dukes. An upset is inevitable as both Ohio and Duquesne have a hot streak to uphold.
