A breakdown of the Ohio Women’s Basketball team from the free throw line:
Despite the preparation and routine put in to each free throw, the Bobcats consistently struggle from 15-foot, wide-open shots.
The top free throw shooter for Ohio is Yamonie Jenkins. She’s shooting 82 percent from the line this season, which is third to Tmisht Stinson and Kendall Jessing who have made each of their four and two attempts respectively.
Quiera Lampkins takes the most trips to the line. She is 46-63 on the season.
As a whole, the Bobcats have struggled from the line in recent years.
As of the ‘Cats January ninth game against Bowling Green, this is the third consecutive season in which Ohio is shooting a worse free throw percentage than their opponents. In fact, this season is on track to be the Bobcats’ worst since the ’08-’09 season. Both then and now, Ohio is shooting 63.4 percent from the line.
The ‘Cats 63.4 free throw percentage ranks them 296th in the NCAA and 11th in the MAC as of Jan. 13.
As Ohio gets closer to the conference tournament, free throws will be an easy point of improvement to earn a second conference championship.
