Stuart’s to Host Honeycutters’ Platt for Special Backstage Show
< < Back to ?p=149712Singer-songwriter Amanda Anne Platt will return to Stuart’s Opera House this Friday a special backstage show. Platt, the founder, songwriter and lead vocalist for Asheville, North Carolina’s The Honeycutters, is no stranger to the area, having made a few appearances at both Stuart’s Opera House and the annual Nelsonville Music Festival.
Since forming in 2007, The Honeycutters have released several albums and performed at several notable festivals, including MerleFest and Folk Alliance. Fueled by Platt’s songwriting, The Honeycutters’ most recent release, Me Oh My, moves Platt into the spotlight as producer, band leader and principal creative force.
Platt grew up listening to her father’s extensive record collection, with country legends Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn directly influencing her compositions and delivery. In addition to her love for classic country, Platt also cites Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty as major influences.
According to No Depression, “…Platt’s songs are exceptional, with interesting melodies and well-written lyrics sung with a strong and engaging voice that sounds a bit like a blend of Gillian Welch and Loretta Lynn.”
For this intimate “backstage show,” the audience will be seated on stage with Platt. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. For more information, visit stuartsoperahouse.org.
