Bobcats Look To Bounce Back Against Alabama A&M
< < Back to bobcats-look-bounce-back-against-alabama-amFor only the second time this season, the Ohio Bobcats (6-2) will look to rebound from a loss when they take on Alabama A&M at home Saturday.
The Bulldogs enter the game with a 3-4 record. Of their three wins, two have come against non-Division I opponents. Alabama A&M defeated the University of Alabama in Huntsville, who competes in NCAA Division II, 79-73, for the team’s first win of the season. Then the Bulldogs also defeated Oakwood University, a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, 70-58. Their third win this season came against a winless Tennessee State team.
The Bulldogs have three players that do most of the damage for them. Jeremy Crutcher leads the team in scoring with 12.4 points per game, and not far behind is Demarquelle Tabb, who averages 11.3 points per game and a team-leading 7.0 rebounds per game. Brandon Ellis averages nearly 10 points per contest.
Alabama A&M struggles on the boards, as it enters the game ranked 322nd nationally in rebounding with nearly 32 per game. This bodes well for Ohio, as the Bobcats have been a strong rebounding this team this season, outrebounding their opponents with 40-plus in their last four games.
Ohio will have to be much more efficient offensively against the Bulldogs than it was in its last game, a 73-56 loss to Oakland on the road. The Bobcats only shot 37 percent from the field, going 21-of-57 from the field. The 3-point shooting numbers were even uglier for Ohio as the team went 3-for-24 from 3-point land.
Ohio’s poor offensive performance was ultimately its demise against Oakland. Both teams started the game out poorly. Oakland, however, eventually heated up, and Ohio did not, allowing Oakland to pull away for good.
Alabama A&M realistically does not pose much of a threat to Ohio, but the Bobcats have to be weary of the possible trap game with their matchup with 22nd ranked UMass looming on the horizon. Ohio’s game with Alabama A&M is scheduled to tipoff at 2 p.m. in the Convo Saturday.
