Ohioans are expected to get a break after two days of dangerously cold weather that closed schools, caused sporadic power outages, broke water pipes and sent people to hospitals with hypothermia.

Athens City Schools issued a two-hour delay in anticipation of remaining colder temperatures on Wednesday.

Some residents woke up to temperatures in the teens Wednesday but probably didn't think it was that bad after below-zero temperatures – and wind chills as low as minus-40 – kept them shivering Monday and Tuesday.

Low temperatures shattered records for those two dates all over the state.

At least two men were believed to have died from hypothermia while two women, one in Athens, were found dead in the snow at opposite corners of the state since the deep freeze began Monday.

Forecasters say highs should creep into the 20s Wednesday, with a gradual warm-up through the rest of the week.
