Athens County Issues See Positive Results
< < Back to ?p=153926National issues were the focus of tonight’s primary, but local issues saw positive results for current expenses and a city school district renewal levy.
The village of Jacksonville continues its current expenses levy of 3.2 mils for five years as voters approved the levy with 66 percent of the vote. Jacksonville also saw the approval of a replacement fire levy which increased the tax to 3 mils for five years.
The Athens City School District saw a renewal permanent improvements levy of 2.9 mils for five years receive approval from 73 percent of voters.
Bern Twp. also received approval of their current expenses levy by 58 percent of the voters. The replacement levy is a 1-mil, five year tax.
Trimble Twp. replaced their existing fire levy for a 1.4-mil, five year tax. Sixty-three percent of voters came out in favor of the change.
Lee Twp. is replacing a road maintenance levy after 64 percent of voters accepted the change to a 1-mil, five-year tax. The village of Albany also saw the approval of a roads levy, this time a renewal of a 3-mil, five-year levy that was approved with a 64 percent result.
