BREAKING: Escaped Inmate Captured Miles From Prison

NELSONVILLE -An inmate who escaped a Nelsonville prison Sunday night, leading to a Monday manhunt was found miles from the prison late Monday night.
John Modie, 58, was arrested at about 10:50 p.m. without incident by a “joint task force” in the Nelsonville area, according to Jarrod Robinson, spokesperson for the Hocking Unit of the Southeastern Ohio Correctional Complex.
No other details about the arrest, including additional charges or if Modie had help in his escape, were released on Monday night.
Modie was reported missing from the facility after an 11 p.m. head count Sunday night, according to a release by Grant E. Doepel, deputy communications chief for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol and several other area law enforcement agencies followed leads starting early Monday searching for Modie.
He is currently serving 18 years to life for murder, robbery and escape after being convicted of killing a woman in Cleveland in 2003.
Hocking College was closed until further notice Monday because of the escape, but are now scheduled to reopen as normal on Tuesday, according to the school.
Information about Modie’s possible whereabouts and two potential accomplices was released by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, but was later deemed “unfounded,” according to a release on the sheriff’s office’s website.
