COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – The Ohio Ballot Board has certified another medical marijuana proposal for the fall ballot.

The panel agreed Thursday that the Medicinal Cannabis and Industrial Hemp Amendment can go forward as a single issue.

Grassroots Ohio now must collect roughly 306,000 signatures, or 10 percent of the total vote cast for governor in 2014, to get onto the ballot.

The meeting came a day after leaders in the Ohio House announced plans to pursue medical marijuana legalization through legislation. Legislation will be introduced today and hearings of a select committee are expected to start next week.

Grassroots Ohio’s proposal would give adults the right to have, process, transport, use, share and grow cannabis for medicinal purposes. It also allows non-medicinal cannabis products to be used in commerce.
