Study: West Virginia Had Greatest Drop in Uninsured

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued the findings this week.
West Virginia’s rate of uninsured adults ages 18 to 64 was 8.9 percent in 2015, down from 28.8 percent in 2013.
Among all age groups, West Virginia’s uninsured rate was 6 percent in 2015. The national average was 9.1 percent.
About 59 percent of West Virginia adults ages 18 to 64 had health insurance last year through a private provider, while about 35 percent had it through a public health plan. The state Department of Health and Human Resources says more than 175,000 West Virginians are enrolled in the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion.
