OU President Gets Pay Increase, Board Talks Successor

Giving high praise for his work in the last year as president, the Ohio University trustees gave Roderick McDavis a bonus and a raise in his base pay on Friday.
Board Chair David Wolfort said the list of praises the board had for McDavis “could last all morning and on and on” as he talked about the outgoing president’s annual evaluation.
Wolfort cited McDavis’ fundraising, new campus developments and the president’s ability to bring OU national recognition as reasons for his “outstanding” evaluation.
The president received a $20,000 increase in his $480,000 base salary and a $100,000 bonus for the year.
But as they praised one president, the board also prepared to bring in his successor.
Wolfort announced the launch of a new presidential search website, www.ohio.edu/presidential-search, where updates would be posted as the search continues.
The first step in the search was selecting a 21-person hiring committee, which has been completed.
Included in the list of committee members, which is accessible on the new presidential search website, was former board chair Sandra Anderson, Faculty Senate member Joseph McLaughlin and Athens City Council President Chris Knisely.
A search firm has also been chosen to help with the hiring process. Witt-Keifer was chosen from three search firms that were finalists for the job.
“Open forums are planned and the public will be invited,” Wolfort said of the search.
A timeline of the search will also be included in the new website.
