South Gallia got on the board early as Cory Hanner threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Danny Mettney to put the Rebels up 8-0 in the first quarter. South Gallia converted on the ensuing two-point conversion and the touchdown capped a 50-yard, five minute 10 second drive.
Waterford tried to respond on their ensuing drive but stalled and turned the ball over on downs.
With the ball back in South Gallia’s hands, they drove down the field once again lead by their power running game. Ethan Spurlock capped the drive off by running in his first touchdown of the game from two yards out to put the Rebels ahead 14-0.
Trailing 14-0 early in the first half, Waterford knew that they had to score quickly to change the momentum of the game, and they did just that. After converting a few crucial first downs, Trevor Lang found Devin Patterson on a huge 42-yard touchdown pass to bring the Wildcats within seven points before halftime.
Waterford came into halftime with the momentum after getting within seven points before halftime but the momentum quickly turned back to South Gallia at the beginning of the second half.
The Rebels defense came out fighting and didn’t allow any more points the rest of the game. At the same time, South Gallia’s offense stayed hot scoring 13 more points as they came out with the 27-7 win.
For South Gallia, Cory Hanner had a quiet but reliable game as he was 3-5 passing for 75 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Ethan Spurlock wasn’t to be stopped as he ran the ball 16 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns.

South Gallia looks to continue their success next week when they return home to take on Symmes Valley while Waterford travels to Belpre to take on the Golden Eagles.
