Peden Stadium In Need of Repairs
< < Back to peden-repairs-neededCOLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio University is working on repairs to its stadium after an 8-inch-thick piece of stone molding fell from the building’s exterior onto a sidewalk.
The university has removed other similar moldings, and work is underway to stabilize the brick wall before the team’s home opener Sept. 3.
No one was hurt when the 2 ½-by-4-foot piece fell from Peden Stadium’s southwest corner last month. A door and a cabinet of audio and video equipment were damaged.
The school says the molding was on part of the stands built in 1929, and the support system under the stone apparently failed. Areas around some stands were blocked off as a precaution.
The university plans to start construction in March on a long-term repair that’s not yet designed, with completion scheduled for August.
