Ohio Stumbles In Second Half, Falls To Kent State

The ‘Cats drew a charge on the following Kent State inbounds play, but could not capitalize on their final two possessions. A couple of Kent State free throws iced a Golden Flashes victory, 69-64.
The Bobcats failed to complete the season sweep of Kent State and have eliminated their chance at a home game in the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
Kent State was led by its hot shooting percentage as it hit 49 percent of its shots from the floor. Montia Johnson had 13 points and 11 rebounds, posting the only double-double for either team. Ashley Evans led all scorers with 18 points of her own.
Kent State demolished Ohio on the boards out rebounding the ‘Cats by 15. The Golden Flashes brought down 33 defensive rebounds compared to the Bobcats’ 17.
The ‘Cats had another tough day from behind the arch as they hit five of the 26 shots they attempted. It is the second straight game Ohio has shot below 20 percent from deep.
It wasn’t all bad news for Ohio as it forced Kent State to turn the ball over 21 times. Quiera Lampkins led the ‘Cats in scoring again, with 16 points.
Kiyanna Black saw her first action since the fall she took in Ohio’s last win over Buffalo. She played 19 minutes and had seven points coming off of the bench. The brace she was wearing didn’t slow down her pace as she took 15 shots. It did hurt her stroke as she only hit three of those attempts.
The loss drops the ‘Cats to 9-19 on the year and to 4-13 in conference play. The loss drops them into a tie for fifth place in the MAC East with who else but the Kent State Golden Flashes.
