Wahama Loses its Final Season Game
< < Back to wahama-loses-its-final-season-gameDylan Lucas of the Buffalo Bison led the way on the road against Wahama as they stomped the White Falcons, 60-14.
Lucas has been an absolute stud for the Bison offense, leading with 1848 on 138 carries coming into Friday’s contest and easily topped 2000 yards with 161 on the ground. Lucas also led the team in receiving and tacked on a 33-yard touchdown in the first half as well. He had four total touchdowns and 193 total yards to end the first half.
For Wahama, it wasn’t unable to get anything going on the offensive side of the ball. Junior quarterback Bryton Grate was completing passes, but a fierce Buffalo defense was not allowing any yards after the catch. A non-existent run game also doomed Wahama. The White Falcons were shut out the first half and their two touchdowns weren’t created on offense. Defensive back Johnnie Board recovered a fumble and took it to Buffalo’s end zone to put their first points on the board. Later, senior linebacker/full back Wyatt Edwards was able to return a kick off, allowing Wahama to come away with some points in an otherwise lack-luster game.
Another factor that did Wahama in is that it gave Buffalo phenomenal field position on several possessions. Many of Buffalo’s drives started at mid-field and Lucas made quick work and found pay-dirt several times. In addition, special teams didn’t do Wahama any favors. On a quick three-and-out, Buffalo was able to block a punt and junior tight end Owen Tillis walked it in to lead Buffalo 39-0 going into half.
Buffalo simply outplayed them in all three phases in the game and it’s hard for any opponent to overcome that kind of dominance. They had no answer for Lucas and failed to move the ball down the field.
Looking ahead to next year for Buffalo, it is going to be hard to replace a guy who has accounted 215 of their 367 points heading into the Wahama game. With this being the final game of both these teams’ seasons, Buffalo finishes with a 7-3 record and Wahama falls to 2-8.
