RedStorm Look To Extend Streak Against Conference Rival St. Catherine
< < Back to redstorm-look-extend-streak-against-conference-rival-st-catherineThe Rio Grande RedStorm (13-17, 3-9 Mid-South Conference) look to extend their three-game winning streak this weekend when they host their conference rival St. Catherine College Patriots (13-14, 7-5 MSC).
The teams begin the series at 3 p.m. on Friday and play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.
The RedStorm have struggled in conference play recently and hope to record their first conference victory since March 8, when they won both games of a doubleheader at Cumberlands.
Anthony Knittel (2-3) will start the first game for Rio. Kyle Miller (2-3) is slated to start the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, with David Steele (3-3) following in the series finale. Miller, a senior righty, leads all Rio Grande starters with an ERA of 2.70. He also has a team-high three wins this season.
The RedStorm starters will have the task of slowing down a Patriot attack led by Alfredo Bohorquez. The Venezuelan infielder is batting .329 with an OBP of .466 and leads St. Catherine in both runs (26) and hits (27).
The Patriots thrive in the fourth inning, outscoring opponents 28-9 during that frame this season.
