Rio Softball Hosts No. 23 Campbellsville For Two
< < Back to rio-softball-hosts-no-23-campbellsville-twoAfter more than a week off of play, the Rio Grande Redstorm (14-7) will pick it back up Monday, hosting the No. 23 Campbellsville University Tigers (24-8).
The Redstorm will look to keep up the success at the plate more than a week after a doubleheader against Bluefield College, where the team racked up over 10 hits. Since, the team has seen six games postponed, including a pair of doubleheaders against Mid-South Conference foes.
Sophomore catcher Kim Rollins paces the Rio offense with an average of .350 along with six homers and 23 RBIs. The RedStorm could use a spark from her against a Tigers team that is surrendering an average of five hits a game with a team ERA of just 1.88.
Campbellsville is coming off of a split in a doubleheader with Lindsey Wilson. Junior Kristin Benton is hitting .485 to lead all players in the MSC. Benton and the rest of the Tigers will face a Redstorm pitching staff with an ERA of 3.20.
First pitch of game one Monday is set for 2 p.m.
