Police: People’s Bank Suspect Connected to Chase Bank Robbery
< < Back to police-peoples-bank-suspect-connected-to-chase-bank-robberyATHENS — A suspect police believe committed a Thursday robbery at Chase Bank on Thursday afternoon is connected to a previous robbery at People’s Bank on Court Street earlier this week, officials say.
Officers from the Athens Police Department responded to Chase Bank at 920 E. State Street at about 4 p.m. on report of a robbery.
“A female, believed to be the same female involved in the People’s Bank robbery on Dec. 27, 2016, is believed to be the suspect,” a release from the police department stated.
In the previous incident, a robbery was reported at about 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday at the People’s Bank. Athens officers searched the area but were unable to locate the female suspect, according to a previous press release.
Evidence and statements are still being collected by police, according to investigators.The suspect did not appear to be armed in either incident and no injuries were reported. The suspect left both banks with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.
