The NCAA’s Graduation Success Rate (GSR) scores for the 2001 to 2004 academic period show that Ohio University student-athletes boast a GSR of 82 percent.

The high figure puts Ohio above the NCAA average for all Division I institutions.

The figures also indicate that five Ohio sports teams, such as women's volleyball, softball, swimming and diving, men's golf and women's golf, all registered perfect graduation success rates during the same academic period.

"Graduating our student-athletes has been and will always be our number one priority at Ohio University," said Athletic Director Jim Schaus. "Our 82 percent graduation success rate is a testament to the hard work put in by our student-athletes and academic support systems."

The football team's mark of 71 percent ranks fourth in the Mid-American Conference and is four percentage points higher than the national Football Bowl Subdivision mark.

On the hardwood, the men's basketball team graduated with a success rate of 79 percent.

The score is 13 percentage points higher than the NCAA average for all Division I institutions.

In addition, the men’s basketball team’s federal graduation rate is second in the MAC and 22 points higher than the NCAA average.

The NCAA developed the GSR to more accurately assess long-term student-athlete academic success.

The GSR differs from the federally mandated graduation-rate methodology in that it includes transfers into and out of an institution.
