Ohio Bobcat softball is back.

The Ohio Bobcat softball team returned to the diamond on Friday with a doubleheader to begin the Carolina Classic.

The classic, held on the campus of South Carolina, brought five different schools together to play a round robin style over the weekend.

GAME 1

The first game of the classic, and of the season saw Ohio take on the Longwood Lancers. Savannah Jo Dorsey picked up right where she left off; pitching six innings of scoreless ball and striking out 11. Dorsey faced one above the minimum. With the game already decided Danielle Steine came in and worked a scoreless seventh.

MacKenzie Brunswick provided the bulk of the offense for Ohio, going 3-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Brunswick had two extra base hits in the 5-0 win, a double and a home run.

Up 1-0 heading into the fourth inning, Ohio used a three run fourth capped off by an RBI single by Alex Day.

GAME 2

The second game was not like the first one. Ohio played, host South Carolina and the Gamecocks showed why they are a threat in the South Eastern Conference. The Gamecocks mercied Ohio 10-0 in five innings.

Steine and Desirae Villanueva struggled, allowing four runs each. Morgan Geno allowed two runs in a third of an inning of work. Brunswick continued to play well, going 1-2. Casie Hutchinson was the only Bobcat to reach base twice, doing so with two walks.

The Gamecocks put up a crooked number in every inning. Krystan White had a great game for South Carolina, going 2-2 with four RBI, a home run, a double and two runs scored.

OVERALL
For the Bobcats, pitchers not named Dorsey allowed 10 runs on 10 hits in five innings.

Brunswick had four hits, three RBI and a home run.

Ohio returns to action on Saturday, in the second day of the Carolina Classic. Ohio takes on Charlotte at 12:30 and Presbyterian at 5:30.
