Shots Fired At Dayton VA Medical Center
< < Back to ?p=18114UPDATE 4:00 p.m. A city official says a suspect is in police custody after a shooting at a Veterans Affairs hospital in Ohio that left one person with a minor injury.
Officials have identifed the suspect as 59-year-old Neil Moore who is a former employee of the medical center.
Moore was taken into custody Monday afternoon after someone dropped him off at a nearby hospital.
The shooting victim has been identified as 61-year-old Paul Burnside. He suffered a single gunshot wound while struggling with Moore over the weapon, according to police.
The VA Center has been closed to the public for the remainder of the day.
Authorities say a suspect accused of firing shots inside the Dayton VA Medical Center is in custody at an area hospital.
Media outlets are reporting police responded to a call about an active shooter around 12:15 p.m. Monday.
Offices on the campus of the medical center were placed on lockdown according to reports from WHIO-TV.
There are no reports of any injuries because of the shooting.
A press conference is expected to be held soon.
