Athens Sears Will Likely Stay Open

Sears stores all across the nation are closing down but Athens residents shouldn’t worry.
According to the Associated Press, sales have gone done 7 percent this past quarter.
The Athens location is locally owned by Rita Gray, however, and she said that the East State St. store is technically “not connected by Sears.”
Gray said that small, local stores will not be as affected as mall stores.
In the case that the Sears in Athens does close down, Gray said, the Sears Corporation will buy it back.
