Power Restored To All AEP Ohio Customers
< < Back to power-restored-all-aep-ohio-customersAll AEP Ohio power company customers have had their power restored following outages to more than 3,000 in Athens County alone Wednesday night.
Severe weather hit much of the region – particularly South of Athens County, downing trees, creating high water on some roadways, and knocking out power to thousands.
WSAZ.com reported that Lawrence County, Ohio was among the places dealing with the latter.
High water was reported near the Collins Career Center and on parts of County Road 36, where McKinney Creek was reported out of its banks.
Earlier Wednesday, some trees were reported down in the Oak Hill area of Jackson County, Ohio.
Nuisance street issues were reported in Scioto County, Ohio, and in Boyd and Greenup counties in eastern Kentucky.
In Huntington, there were scattered reports of high water, which led to high water in the 10th Street viaduct on Wednesday evening.
Earlier in the afternoon, a tornado warning had been issued for parts of Scioto County, Ohio, including Portsmouth, but there were no confirmed reports of a tornado reaching the ground.
The National Weather Service confirms that a tornado touched down in southwest Ohio, damaging a high school and some homes.
There were no injuries from the Wednesday afternoon F-O tornado in Highlands County, east of Cincinnati. But the storm broke off trees and caused minor damage to Lynchburg-Clay High School.
School is out for the summer, but there were some students in the gymnasium as part of a basketball camp when the tornado touched down.
The weather service says the tornado was in the ground for about four miles, with winds as high as 85 mph.
