Ratha Con Screenings at the Athena Cinema
< < Back to ratha-con-screenings-at-the-athena-cinemaLeading up to Ratha Con on May 13, there will be a screening of two films by California filmmaker, Russ Emanuel at the Athena Cinema. First film will be his award-winning sci-fi thriller, Occupants. The second is a short action film, The Assassin’s Apprentice. There will be a Q&A with Russ directly following the films. the event will take place on May 11 at 7 p.m.
Originally from San Francisco, Russ grew up in both Japan and the United States, garnering an international viewpoint of the world throughout his childhood. After graduating from the University of Southern California with degrees in Cinema-Television, International Relations and Japanese, (and gaining more production experience at the UCLA Extension Program) he founded Russem Productions in 2002. Since then his films have won many awards – including Occupants winning “Best Sci-Fi Film” at Shriekfest and being an Official Selection at the San Diego Comicon (the original comic convention).
This event is the first leading up to Ratha Con: Athens Own Pop Culture Convention on May 13 at the Athens Community Center.
This event costs $5 for adults and $3 for students.
ARTS/West is presenting this event with the Athena Cinema. The mission of ARTS/West is to make facilities, resources, and opportunities available to arts organizations, individual artists, and community residents. ARTS/West harnesses community focus for all individuals engaged in the creation, performance, and exhibition of the arts and promotes activities preserving the beauty, heritage, and culture of our town.
